Yagnopavit Sanskar
One of the most sacred of the 16 Samskaras — the rite of passage that initiates a Brahmin boy into Vedic study, Brahmacharya, and the wearing of the sacred thread for life.
The Sacred Thread
The Yagnopavit (Janoi) is composed of three strands, each made of three threads — nine threads in total. Worn over the left shoulder across the chest, it is donned for life.

Each strand of 3 threads represents Brahma-Vishnu-Mahesh, body-mind-soul, and the three qualities of nature

The Gayatri Mantra

तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं
भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्
"We meditate on the divine light of the Sun; may that light illuminate our minds."
